Polyurethane Front Control Arm Bushings
for Front Wheel Drive Chrysler, Dodge and Plymouth
cars of 1989 and some 1990. Those that are NOT cast
and DO have duel swivel bushings, not strut rod style
like the earlier FWD Mopar cars of the 80's.
Which a-arms do you have on your FWD Mopar?

NINE:
On the rear bushing, you will need
to cut the rubber flange off of the
rear part of the bushing.
TEN:
This is what it will look like with
the flange cut off. We used a hack saw,
it worked pretty well.
ELEVEN:
Now it is time to remove the rubber bushings.
You can use a drill and drill out the rubber.
Or do it this easy way, using heat.
TWELVE:
Heat slowly all the way around the
outside of the bushing shell, see arrows.
The rubber will heat up, swell and
liquefy between the shell and the bushing.
Then just squeeze itself out.

NO NEED to "burn" out the bushing.
Do not catch it on fire.

THIRTEEN:
The photo here shows the bushing
after coming out of it’s shell!
NOTE the galvanized bucket and
gravel area.

This process can make a mess so
be prepared. Also use gloves!
FOURTEEN:
Now do the same thing to the rear bushing.
Tip: After you heat up the outside area, you
can use something to tap on the bushing to
help it out of the a-arm.
FIFTEEN:
Next step is to cleanup your a-arms.
Cleaner, solvent, sand, paint...what ever
steps you want. Then add your new
polyurethane PolyBushings.
SIXTEEN:
The front bushing goes into the shell
from the flange side. Arrow shows
the flange. Photo shows the PolyBushing
on the left and the old stock bushing on the
right.
SEVENTEEN:
The rear bushing has two half bushings.
These are the same except one has a wider
flange. The wide flange bushing goes into
the rear most part of the a-arm, as shown
here.
