L-Body rear "dog bone" transmission mount
Here you see a photo of three Dodge "L" body dogbone
mounts that connect from the rear of the transmission
to the car's k-frame or crossmember. This mount helps
keep the engine and trans stationary.
The "A" item is the stock dogbone mount.
The "B" item is one attempt to make a firmer mount. This
one is made out of half of a stock mount and some tubing.
The "C" item is one of the early PolyBushings.com ones.
As you can see in the dogbone "A", the rubber usually
hammers it's self out after a few months of "spirited"
driving. "B" dogbone does the same thing. The "C"
dogbone will out last the others because of the polyurethane
used in the ends instead of soft rubber. IF it is made the
correct length for your car it will cause little, if any vibration.
If made too long, causing "preload" it will cause alot of
in the car vibration. At idle, or in neutral position, it should
not have any preload.
